'he feels deeply, he feels tenderly."

Biography:

George Dinan was born in the British Crown Colony of Bermuda.  As a toddler he and his family immigrated to the United States, after which, they became naturalized citizens.  While growing up in the Puget Sound area of Olympia, Washington, George had developed a deep love of nature and his surrounding environment.  This love of nature and family is often a reoccurring theme throughout many of George’s paintings.

George had graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the College of Fine and Performing Arts at Western Washington University, located in Bellingham, Washington.  His development as an artist has evolved through intensive experimentation and diligent work with many different mediums, which has also led him into developing a brand new form of fresco painting, which he calls “Fresco Nouveau”.  George is currently immersing most of his efforts in oil paint.  Although he is working on a two-dimensional surface, in his mind, he is sculpting three- dimensionally.  This unusual concept helps him readily achieve his goal of sharing his own personal views and interpretations of subjects that are not typically represented in this fashion.

George has shown his work throughout the United States and Canada at many fine art shows and galleries, and had also maintained his own art gallery, Larson~Dinan Gallery, Ltd., in Troutdale, Oregon for four years, 1998-2002.  At this time, he currently shows at the Lorang Fine Art Gallery, located in Cascade Locks, Oregon in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

Currently, George resides in Vancouver, Washington with his daughter.  George’s future endeavors will include: travel, teaching, and painting ‘En Plein Aire’.  Now with the recent advent of painting ‘En Plein Aire’(which means to paint in the open air directly from nature), along with his own personal artistic growth in the studio, George sees himself returning to his French Impressionist roots, but with a 'new twist'.  He also encourages any artist expand and grow through the practice of painting directly from nature, aka: "Plein Air", as quoted below:

"Even if it's not your calling nor interest, painting 'En Plein Aire' will make you a better artist just by sharpening your skills of observation and developing a deeper love and understanding of your surrounding world.  Like the great French Impressionists, you are not painting objects, but in fact, painting the light which falls upon and defines those objects.  Your studio work will therefore improve greatly because of this unique frame of mind and skills gained by painting this way. I promise."
~George Dinan

The future endeavors and possibilities for George and his art are forever exciting and endless!

"Art is much less important than life, but what a poor life without it."
~Robert Motherwell

Artist Statement:

“As with life itself, the journey of an artist is filled with many trials and tribulations, many joyful triumphs, and heartfelt adversities.  While I travel down the various paths of life, I have been acutely aware of the parallels between my own personal being, the world around me, and my portrayal of it all through my art.

Through this life experience, I have been able to grow from within and allow many of my innermost thoughts, emotions and observations to be integrated directly into my passion of painting.  This marriage of my soul to my art, has allowed me the ability to share with the viewer unique subjects and themes on many different subconscious and cognitive levels.

I will continue to grow and develop as an artist and as a person, while letting God shape and guide me into the future.  My Christian faith has also allowed me to overcome many obstacles and achieve goals otherwise thought impossible. There are no limitations as to what can be accomplished.”

"Will God or someone else give me the strength to breathe the breath of prayer and mourning into my paintings, the breath of prayer for redemption and resurrection?"
~Marc Chagall
